TiVoDecoder

An Automator workflow for tivodecode by Samuel McConnell

I whipped up a little automator workflow for those of you who don't want to use the terminal to get all that yummy goodness from your TiVo.

This requires a bit of setup before using. First, you must move tivodecode to a place referenced in your path. Easiest way to do that is to go to Terminal, cd to the directory tivodecode is in, and type "sudo mv tivodecode /usr/bin". It'll ask for your password, then move the file.

After tivodecode is moved, open the workflow in Automator. In step two of the workflow, "Run Shell Script", put your Media Access Key in the space where it says "", and you may change the output filename and directory. (It currently defaults to the root directory.)

The included binary is not universal, so you must choose the package appropriate for your architecture.

After that, have fun! Thanks go to the team at tivodecode for the program. You can go there for the source code for tivodecode.

NOTE: I have gotten reports that this may not work in Leopard (Mac OS 10.5). For now, I only know it works in 10.4, up to 10.4.10. If you would like to donate a copy of Leopard to me for testing and development, you should do so.
